Archive moves; photos online
I’ll defer to your superior German-language skills, but this news item from November 16 appears to me to say that the Robert Walser Foundation and Archive, now located in Zurich, will be moving to Berne in 2009. While the location for the new Walser Center in the city of Berne is not yet determined, the manuscripts will be in the care of the Swiss Literary Archives.
I don’t know the details, but it sounds like a great step forward in the preservation and propagation of Walser’s legacy.
On an unrelated note, Swiss photography group Keystone has placed online a beautiful series of Walser images, both portraits of the author and pictures of manuscripts and books. A few things here I’ve never seen before, including Walser’s gravestone. I wish the images were a bit larger but, hey, I’ll take what I can get.
